Since launching Arkive out of stealth earlier this year, we have been preparing to publicly showcase our first collection to the world, and we are happy to be able to bring it to life as a Host Partner of Art Basel Miami Beach. This partnership marks a very important milestone in Arkive’s journey, as this is the first time a collection curated by everyday people is on display. This initial collection of diverse, culturally significant fine art and artifacts represents our global community’s decisions about what we should acquire, all while adhering to our initial curatorial theme of ‘When Technology Was a Game Changer.’
We exhibited the first 7 items in our collection in the VIP Collectors Lounge and hosted a few fun events and activations throughout the week.
We programmed a Vogue performance with local Miami Vogue dancers in recognition our acquisition of Madonna’s fans used during her 1990 VMA performance of ‘Vogue.’ We also hosted an intimate discussion with Josh Baer, the Baer Faxt co-founder, and Tom who addressed trends in the art market.
Arkive members and friends connected outside of the fair as well! We kicked off the week with Elizabeth Margulies who gave Arkive members and friends a private tour of her collection at The Warehouse.
We also partnered with Offline Ventures to cohost an evening of cocktails and curated vinyl by DJ Rich Medina at Dante’s Hifi. Josh Phelps and Lauren Curbelo on the Arkive Core team brought members together for a walkthrough of ICA followed by an artistic lunch.
