New York City experienced a week of art-filled extravagance that left a lasting impression on its attendees. From elegant dinners to exclusive gallery parties, the city buzzed with excitement and creativity. Let's recap the highlights and see who enjoyed the show with us.

On May 11, Arkive launched our Official NY Art Week Guide with Cultured Magazine at Palo Gallery which featured Julius Margulies’ solo show, The Shrink. The event was a resounding success, thanks to everyone in attendance and the generous support of Palo Gallery.

May 12 we woke up at the crack of 10am to curate an intimate gathering at the historic Academy Mansion on the Upper East Side, bringing attention to the captivating pop-up exhibition, FEMME F(R)ICTION put on by C1760. Arkive Founder Tom Mcleod, Vajra Kingsley, Lexie Komisar, and Samantha Bloom orchestrated a thought-provoking walkthrough with a small group of the talented artists behind FEMME F(R)ICTION. Clarina Bezzola, Chiara Capellini, Brigitte D'Annibale, Jen DeNike, Kim Faler, Parker Shipp, and Toni Ross openly shared foundational principles that drive their artistic practices in an artist talk that followed the walkthrough.

On May 16th, Arkive partnered with The Cultivist on their annual cocktail party in New York to celebrate Frieze Week. It was a beautiful evening where guests delved into the theme, The Art of Dreaming. Performance artist Living Candelabras by Flambeaux With Candle Goddess Joules Magus lit up the room and Mexican-American artist Yvette Molina invited guests to share their personal dreams and desires through her ‘Big Bang Votive’ project. Libations by Dobel Tequila included private tastings and delicious cocktails. for delicious cocktails and to everyone who joined us!

On May 17th, our Acquisition Round #14 artist Josh Kline offered a group of Arkive members a special walk-through of his retrospective, "Josh Kline: Project For A New American Century." Guests were captivated as Kline shared his artistic vision, bringing each piece to life. He generously engaged in dialogue about the artist's responsibility when presenting dystopian visions. The exhibition left attendees inspired and invigorated, with Kline's comment on "an artist's ability to show the future" resonating deeply. It was a transformative experience that reaffirmed the power of art. Arkive members can now see in The Atrium the three works of his we are voting to acquire in this round.

Frieze, the renowned art fair, took center stage on Thursday, May 18. The NADA (New Art Dealers Alliance) hosted a talk on "Reimagining Art Spaces" provided a thought-provoking finale to this extraordinary event lineup. In this discussion, Makayla Bailey (Rhizome) will speak with Paul Hill (Strada), Rachel Rossin (Dunkunsthalle), and Simon Wu (Arkive) about the ways in which they are reimagining meaningful art spaces outside the traditional white-box model.

Thank you as always New York City for your creativity. Until next time, let us revel in the memories created during this extraordinary week of art, connections, and pure adoration.
